MISSION STATEMENT
FRIJOLYWOOD is a national, charitable, literary and educational philanthropic organization, administered by a member board of dedicated professionals in the film, television and new media industries. The organization’s goal is to provide scholarships, grants and work opportunities for Latin filmmakers in the US entertainment industry.
We address the needs of emerging minority filmmakers, by promoting and exhibiting films and media arts to further their acceptance inside the U.S. We also strive to preserve the legacies of Latin Filmmakers who have blazed a trail for future generations. We educate the public about contemporary Latin American film by artists who have lived and worked in the U.S. and Latin America, through exhibitions and related cultural programs, exposing a diverse U.S. audience to contemporary Latin American film art, aiding in the eradication of racial prejudice and discrimination.
In future, we will also help Latino filmmakers secure funds for development and production, channel applications for scholarships and provide mentoring opportunities.
